Why are conservative called the "Right" and liberals "Left"??

A friend of mind just cleared up the reason conservatives are called the “right” and the liberals are called the “left.”

Read: Ecclesiastes 10:2, it states:
“The heart of the wise inclines to the right, but the heart of the fool to the left.”
